The learning process

Note-Taking Note-taking can get overwhelming for me when I’m not organized, even though I usually have a good idea of what the lecture will be about. To avoid losing pages of notes or getting mixed up with other classes, I’m going to start using headers on my notes to stay organized. I’m also planning to try the Cornell Notes system, which will help me keep my notes structured and easy to review later. Since I’m a visual learner, using the “Mapping Main Ideas” template could be especially helpful for subjects like science, where visualizing concepts is key. My biggest challenge has been trying to write down everything instead of focusing on the main ideas, so these templates will help me filter out unnecessary information and stay focused on what’s important. Studying When it comes to studying, I have some strengths, like being able to concentrate well in a quiet environment and avoiding distractions like texts or social media. If I get restless, I like to change my environment b...

Time management blog post

Image
This week, I learned some important lessons about time management that have shifted how I view balance in my life. I thought I had everything under control—balancing both full-time work and school. I’ve always been organized, and I manage my assignments well. However, through some recent time management assignments, I realized that I’ve been neglecting one crucial aspect of my life: my social life. This lack of downtime has been leading to burnout, even when I feel productive. For a long time, I believed that in order to stay on track with my goals, I needed to sacrifice time with friends and fun activities. My thinking was that if I worked hard enough now, I would eventually reach a point where I could relax, hang out with friends, and enjoy myself without feeling guilty. However, I’ve realized that this is not a realistic way to approach life. There will always be more to do—whether it’s school assignments, work tasks, or other responsibilities. Waiting for my to-do list to be c...

My Sleeping Habits

Introduction Sleep is crucial, yet I've struggled with it. Recently, I tracked my sleep and identified the cause of my tiredness. Here's what I found and my plan. 1. Needed Sleep Experts recommend 7 to 9 hours nightly. I aim for 8. This amount keeps me alert and focused. I’ve always known that sleep is important, but hitting that 8-hour mark has shown me just how much it can impact my overall well-being. It’s like my body and mind are finally getting the rest they need to perform at their best. 2. Actual Sleep My tracking showed: Weekdays: 5 to 6 hours. Weekends: 4 to 5 hours. I’m not catching up, leaving me tired. The gap between the sleep I need and what I’m actually getting is pretty stark. During weekdays, my limited sleep makes me feel groggy and unfocused, and weekends aren’t helping much either. It’s clear that my current sleep patterns are not enough to keep me refreshed. 3. Sleep Disruptions These factors affect my sleep: Work: Late nights push my bedtime. School Wo...
